Hola from Madrid

Coaching Xchange’s first coach education trip abroad, saw a group of 25 coaches spending a week as guests at Atletico Madrid.

Coach education tours, provides opportunities for coaches to learn about different methodologies and talent development strategies from some of Europes top clubs.

The experience at Atletico Madrid included, daily visits to the clubs High Performance Centre, where they observed 1st team training, U19s training sessions lead by Fernando Torres, then presentations each day lead by club staff on:

Club Methodology (Philosophy), on how they develop

Analysis Department and how they trigger curiosity within the youth development system

Strength & Conditioning department and how they support the youth development department

Individual Project Department and how they improve players and create great habits

The coaching x change trip to Athletico Madrid gave an in detail insight to the running of a professional football club, alongside opportunities to see some great sights of Madrid. The ability to be on the pitch and learn about why and how they do things in the classroom allowed me to further my knowledge on how different cultures play and coach the game. Overall a great trip and I would recommend to any aspiring coaches!

So much learnt about analysis, philosophy and coaching in such a short space of time from an incredible group of coaches at an incredible football club. Truly so much information and learning that can be bought back and applied into my own coaching environment.
